One document, two surfaces. This page covers the Stitchgrid browser workbench on imagetocrochetpattern.com and the native iOS app as separate products. They are both local-first; they do not store work the same way.

Browser workbench

The workbench is local-first. A picture you choose is decoded with the browser’s own image decoder and charted in the tab. Local charting involves no upload. Only when you click Generate for an optional AI proposal, a reduced JPEG copy of the working picture is sent for analysis. The original file, filename, EXIF metadata, custom palette and generated grid are not sent to the model. Charts are not saved to a cloud account. Google sign-in can temporarily preserve your local chart and lossless working pixels in this tab’s session storage, as described below. Closing the tab ends this temporary storage.

Optional AI chart draft

If you press “Generate image-based proposal,” a reduced JPEG copy (longest edge up to 512 pixels and no more than 64 KiB), your project goal and aggregate chart totals are sent to the Stitchgrid server and the configured Kimi K3 model through our 9router gateway. The reduced copy is re-encoded from decoded working pixels with transparency flattened to white; it contains no original file, filename or EXIF metadata. The model uses this copy to describe visible details and recommend stitch width and colour count. Your browser renders the proposed chart locally, and changes require your explicit Apply. The service does not repair pixels automatically, calculate gauge, identify a yarn brand or promise finished-pattern accuracy. Provider processing and retention follow the provider’s own policies; we do not promise a provider deletion period. If image-based AI is unavailable, the regular local controls remain available.

Native iOS app

The native iOS app processes a selected photo on-device. The system photo picker supplies image data for in-memory, on-device processing. Native projects are saved locally. Source photos are not stored with projects. Exports are temporary until user-directed sharing. The native app initiates no network requests.

When you save a project, Stitchgrid writes it to local application storage on the device. A saved project keeps a title; the deterministic pattern grid, palette and cells; the fixed display label “Selected photo”; timestamps; a UUID identity; and export metadata. It does not persist source image bytes, photo URLs or paths, EXIF, or photo-library identifiers.

PNG and PDF files are written to local temporary storage and presented through the Apple system share sheet. Stitchgrid does not automatically upload those files. If you choose an external share destination, that destination may transfer or process the file under its own terms.

What this page does not claim

This page describes Stitchgrid’s own browser workbench and native app. It does not describe Apple services, an external share destination you choose, or the site’s hosting provider. Those behaviours are outside what this document can verify.

Hosting and third parties

Pages on this site are served from imagetocrochetpattern.com. They do not load third-party scripts, fonts or tracking pixels — the workbench bundles its fonts and code with the page.

Optional AI account

Optional AI uses a Google account and an essential same-site session cookie. The server stores your account, separate trial and paid balances, request status and private recovery records. Availability and spendable balances are shown in the account panel. Private server recovery records may temporarily contain the submitted text, reduced image and original and validated AI result, so an interrupted request can be checked without sending it again. A successful result can be retrieved for 300 seconds after its first settlement. This retrieval window is not a promise of physical deletion: requests with an uncertain outcome, a funding hold or an unacknowledged recovery record may be retained longer. Provider processing and retention follow the provider’s own policies; we do not promise a provider deletion period. Google provides your verified email, name, profile picture and account identifier for sign-in. We store the account and essential session information; email and session cookies are not sent to the model. The browser stores an account-scoped pending request ID and input hash in session storage. Optional local wording reviews expire after 15 minutes and store the goal, chart totals and image descriptor/digest only, never the reduced JPEG or a data URL. A reviewed vision request can be used only with the matching current in-memory image. When you choose Google sign-in, it may also save a temporary copy of your local working image pixels, chart colours and stitches, editing history and reading progress in this tab. That copy is used once on a matching return to this website and is eligible for restoration for 30 minutes. It is discarded on return or the next page load. It is not uploaded to our server or Google. AI suggestions, reduced AI JPEG bytes and AI undo data are excluded from this temporary copy. Your project goal may be included so you can continue after sign-in. If the copy cannot fit or your browser refuses storage, sign-in is blocked until you save your chart or start from an empty page. Results expire; pending requests are never sent again automatically. Local calculators, image editing and exports remain free without sign-in.

AI text safety check

When you submit an optional AI request, your goal and numeric stitch statistics and the operation/model identifiers are sent to Waffo for a text safety check before generation. Account email, session cookies, uploaded images and local tool files are not included in this check. Generation proceeds only after the check permits it. Local calculations and manual tools do not use this service.
